Dear Don, Heidi and Family. My heart has been full and overwhelmed with the human emotions the Creator bestowed upon us, and I know this is true even more for you. The Bible assures us that "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart", Psalm 34:18. May He mightily bless and lovingly comfort you in a manifest way these days and weeks to come. I love you and will continue praying for you my dear ones.

Every time we saw Ryan, he picked up right where we left off and never without a smile. He had a way of making all who knew him feel important and valued. The last time we saw him he spent his time showing our son in and out of his squad car, telling him what it was like to be a police officer. He had our son enthralled the entire time. Our most deepest condolences on the profound loss of your son, brother, dad, fiancé and more! Many heartfelt prayers of comfort and love sent your way!

Ryan, you will forever be missed my friend. The shifts will never be the same without your smiling face and keen since of humor. You’ve always been then same ole Ryan- even in the high school days of working at Harris teeter all the way up until the last time I talked to you and told you that you needed to straighten up that stache. Man this world has truly lost a hero, a friend, and most of all a great example of what a man is supposed to be. Ryan, thank you for all you have done and the sacrifices you made. To Ryan’s family: I want you all to know that Ryan’s sacrifice will not be in vain. He has changed so many hearts and lives. Just a couple of weeks ago I listened to a detainee thank Ryan for helping her. She was arrested and charged and even in the middle of all of that she was still thankful for the way he treated her and the positive words of hope he spoke to her. Long after Ryan had left the detention facility I heard her telling another detainee “that’s deputy Hendrix, he’s one of the good ones”. That’s just one of the many examples I can think of that showed what a great deputy he was. Ryan will forever serve as an example of the deputy, and more importantly man, that we should all strive to be- I know that I personally will.
