Growing up with Carey

Carey was a special childhood friend. My parents bought Briarwood Motel in the early 1970’s. Carey lived right behind the motel, and was one of the first friends I made in Hendersonville. I will always remember playing football and basketball with Carey, and Kenny and Greg Hargus. A few times I went with Carey to Hasty Tasty on Friday night..he and his parents went there every Friday. We would spend nights at each other’s houses. He was a kind friend and even though I have not seen him in years, I often thought if him. I know you are at peace Carey and we will see each other again one day..Don Reynolds

Carey was one of the finest people I’ve ever known. I have so many happy memories of him and his family. My family always thought so highly of him. Rachel, Ann, Terry, Mike, Peggy and Rhonda (and all his cousins) -I love you and have been praying for you. To his children and grandson, I know this is a huge loss. I pray you feel God’s comfort and grace.

I am saddened to hear of Carey’s passing. I remember Carey well from our young days at Calvary Baptist Church. He was a great guy and always let us younger teens tag along without complaint. I remember him as a kind soul to all. My sympathies to the family during this difficult time.

Carey, was like a brother to me growing up. He was the first friend that I ever made on God’s green earth. We were both five years old when we first met. Carey was nine weeks and four days older than me. So he was one grade ahead of me. We went to go together and rode the same bus. We played every sport according to the season and time of year in our backyard. We had so much fun when we were kids. We rode bikes, played army, played hide and seek, went fishing. Later on, we both work together at Community Cash grocery store. I have so many wonderful memories of Carey that I could write a book and maybe someday I will. Nobody can make me laugh like Carey He was a great person and my mom always told me that he was the most polite person she has ever known. He had the best manners. I know I’m blessed for having him as a friend. Prayers for the family. God Bless you all!
