William Paul Jones, 93, of Hendersonville, NC, peacefully left our world Sunday, October 14, 2018, at 11:34 p.m.
Mr. Jones was born April 29, 1925 in Trenton, NJ but lived most of his young adult life in Manhattan, NY.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 and served in the Pacific Area. After his discharge, he married and worked as an electrician for RCA. In 1957, he accepted a position with IBM, where he was employed for 28 years, primarily as a researcher. Upon retirement, he moved to Hendersonville, where he resided for the next 43 years.
“Bill” (as he was known) was an inventive thinker, fond of science and highly mechanically inclined. He enjoyed sailing, archery, painting, music, and computer research. He was a classical and folk guitarist.
He is survived by his daughter, Karyn M. Jones, of RI and by special friend Ruth Hoots of Hendersonville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie; his former wife, Thelma; his son, Barry; and his son William, Jr.
Interment with military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville at a later date.
