William L. "Bill" Horne

March 22, 1920 - October 29, 2015

William “Bill” Langston Horne, 95, of Hendersonville, passed away on October 29, 2015 with family at his side.  He he was born in Roberta, GA on March 22, 1920.  Bill was a son of the late Leonard and Virginia Horne. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Mary Faith Olander Horne.

Bill was a U.S. Marine during WWII and the Korean War.  He retired from Chevron following 30 years of service in the oil industry both nationally and internationally.  He was a 31-year resident of Hendersonville, NC.  Bill was a Kiawanis Club member and volunteer for the local Habitat for Humanity chapter, where he worked on the first 100 houses they built.

Bill is survived by his wife, Catherine Winters Horne of Hendersonville, NC; his son, Dennis Horne of Loxley, AL; daughter, Peggy Taylor of Fairview, NC; his sisters, Pauline Gibson of Macon, GA and Joyce Cox of Warner Robins, GA; his grandchildren, Tres Hundertmark of Swannanoa, NC, Grant Hundertmark of Cary, NC, Tiffany Lyon of Colorado Springs, CO, Ryan Horne of Roswell, GA, and Trent Horne of Gulf Shores, Alabama; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 1-2pm on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Hendersonville, NC. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Hendersonville Habitat for Humanity or the Fallen Heroes Fund.
