William Dale Davis, 60, of Flat Rock, passed away early Thursday morning, December 5, 2019, after an extended illness. Dale was born in Lakeland, FL on Saturday, September 26, 1959.
He was an extraordinary man who was loved deeply by a wonderful family and many friends. He met the love of his life, Rita Davis, while working in the orange groves in Florida in 1983. Dale married Rita at the Tavares, FL courthouse on July 5, 1985 and they spent more than half of their lives together. He settled in NC in the late eighties, beginning work on a dairy farm in Hendersonville. Dale had a passion for truck driving and made a 36-year career driving commercially for construction companies. Many other drivers nicknamed him Flash. He and his wife had thirty-seven years full of travel and adventures. Dale valued camping, whittling wood, and seeing vintage trucks. His favorite flower was a yellow rose, and his most favorite animals were white doves, woodpeckers, and owls.
Surviving Dale are his spouse, Rita Davis, 67, of Flat Rock; six children, Darrell McMahan and spouse Janet McMahan who gave Dale two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; Tony McMahan, who gave three grandchildren, DonnaAnn Buelien and spouse Daryl Buelien, who gave three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; Teresa McMahan, who gave five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Belinda Asbury and spouse Tim Asbury, who gave three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and lastly Tiffany Smith and fiancé and Michael Buckner who gave three grandchildren.
Dale was a faithful and beloved member of the family who will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be at 2:00pm Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Matthew A. Metzger.
