William "Bill" Sloup

William “Bill” Sloup, 92, of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, November 20, at the Elizabeth House. A native of New York, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elsie Stenicka Sloup and husband of the late Vincenza Sloup who died in 2012. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Sloup who died in 2011. A resident of Hendersonville for 31 years, he had retired as a supervisor from Consolidated Edison in New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as a mechanic aboard the B-29 Superfortress during WW II. He had been a member of the Apple Tree Hummel Club and the Etowah RC Flying Club. He was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Sloup is survived by his daughter, Maureen Bartolomeo of Albrightsville, PA; four grandchildren, William Sloup, Christina Tollison, Amanda Sprance and Dana Wilson and three great-grandchildren, Lillian Tollison, Brooklyn Tollison and Athena Wilson.
A funeral will be held 2 pm Saturday, November 24, 2018 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Military honors will be rendered by the Henderson County Honor Guard and the NC National Guard. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive guests from 6 until 9 pm Friday, November 23, and from 10 am until 2 pm Saturday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
