William Alex "Crockett" Martin

September 25, 1964 - May 17, 2019

William Alex “Crockett” Martin, 54, of East Flat Rock went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 17, 2019 at his home after a two-year battle with cancer. A native of Henderson County, he was a son of William Grady Martin and the late Elizabeth Cochran Martin. Crockett graduated from East Henderson High School, class of 1983. He worked fourteen years with the City of Hendersonville’s Fleet department. Crockett loved to ride and work on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jody Denton.
In addition to his father, survivors include his loving wife of thirty-four years, Penny Denton Martin; daughter, Alix Martin and her husband Scott Champion of Hendersonville; sons, Jeffrey and Jody Martin, both of Hendersonville; grandson, Andrew; sister, Dixie Schmelzer and her husband Clyde of Gainesville, GA; brothers, Scott Martin, Brian Martin and his wife Sally, and Tony Martin and his wife Tammy, all of Hendersonville; sister-in-law, Tangie Byrd and her husband Tony of Hendersonville; mother-in-law, Louise Denton; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service in the church. A celebration of Life gathering will follow the service at the church.
