Wiley Jerome Arrowood

September 22, 1921 - November 19, 2015

Wiley Jerome Arrowood, 94, passed away November 19, 2015 at the Elizabeth House. He was born in Yancey County, NC on September 22, 1921. His family moved from Yancey County to Edneyville.
He served in the Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He joined the Air Force in 1948 and retired from the Air Force in 1970. After his retirement from the Air Force he worked in the maintenance department at Pardee Hospital until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Wiley was an officer and active member of Tracy Grove Community Club. He loved volunteering for his community. He also loved his vegetable gardening and flower gardening.
He was the son of the late William Robert and Velvia Hudgins Arrowood. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie Jo Edney Arrowood; a son Roger Alan Arrowood; four brothers, Willis Bartlett Arrowood, James Murray Arrowood, Rufus Denver (Denny) Arrowood, and Frances Dexter Arrowood; two sisters, Pansie Lee Arrowood McLaughlin and Lucy Mae Arrowood Ogle.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Arrowood and his wife Chris of Oakfield, WI, David Arrowood and his wife Kim of Flat Rock; daughter-in-law, Jacki Arrowood of Edenton; sister, Atha Marie Arrowood Wooten of Etowah; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and family at the home of David Arrowood after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or NC 1616 Elks Lodge, 546 N Justice St, Hendersonville, NC 28739 for the Veterans Project at the Charles George VA Hospital.
