Vinnie Lee ìNellieî Hyder Stepp Huggins, 93, of East Flat Rock, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010, at The Laurels of Hendersonville, following a long illness. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Minnie McCraw Hyder and the wife of the late Albert Uston Stepp who died in 1990. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of East Flat Rock First Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by a son, W. A. Stepp; a daughter, Eva Louise Smith; and a brother, Daniel Hyder.
Survivors include six sons, A.J. Stepp of East Flat Rock, James Norman Stepp of East Flat Rock, Charlie Stepp of Taylorsville, Donald Stepp of Mill Springs, Cecil Stepp of East Flat Rock, Billy Stepp of Flat Rock; two daughters, Vivian Allen of Mill Springs, Victoria Suttles of Mayo, SC; two sisters, Ethel Rhodes of Flat Rock, Mary Ann Stepp of Barker Heights; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Neelands will officiate. Mrs. Huggins will be in repose from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday and from 9:00 to 11:30 am Thursday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

I remember my grandma and i would be walking down the road she always had to stop and talk to nellie to see how she would be doing. I enjoyed seting and listen to what they had to say. if my granny couldnt get out she would call and talk to her. She was just like my granny. As I got older ididnt go around much . when I took my first child to visit her she was so happyfor me. then when had my second son she always loved for me to bring them by. I will miss her I enjoyed going to visit every chance I got to see her. I was going to take my boys to see tomorrow.She will be missed but we all know that she is in a better place now.
