Thurman Ray Qualls, 93, of Hendersonville passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born in Fletcher, NC to the late Charlie L. and Grace Hudson Qualls. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Buena West of East Flat Rock, NC, Edie Walker of Taylorsville, NC, and Mary Martha Baker of Mt. Olive, NC; and brother, Charles (Bill) Qualls of Hendersonville.
Thurman was a graduate of Fletcher High School and served in the Navy as an electrician. He was of the Baptist faith and worked for 25 years at the US Postal Service. In his early years, he was a farmer. He loved gardening, photography, community service and was an avid traveler.
Thurman is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lettie Flynn Qualls; daughter, Loretta Dunham (Dennis) of Hendersonville, NC; sisters-in-law, Ann Qualls of Hendersonville and Mettle Lee Wooten of Houlton, Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews. We will miss his high-spirited nature as well as his kind devotion to family and friends.
The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 12pm, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Uncle Ray was a nice Uncle. I remember when he was delivering mail on our route when I was little. Sometimes he would bring some candy. He will surely be missed. Thoughts and prayers with his family. Love you Uncle Ray.
