Tamra Y. Rogers, 55, of Hendersonville, passed away Friday, October 24, at the Elizabeth House. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she is the daughter of Richard and Alice Young of Hendersonville and wife of the late Kevin Bly Rogers who passed away in 2009. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gregory Layne Young who passed away in 2007. She was a 1977 graduate of East Henderson High School and had attended Blue Ridge Community College. She had been an accountant for Westinghouse and Blue Ridge Metals. Her primary focus was being a devoted mother to her children. A woman of strong Christian faith, she was a member of Living Water Baptist Church and taught Sunday School while attending Ebenezer and Refuge Baptist Churches.
Mrs. Rogers is survived, in addition to her parents, by her three sons, Jacob Rogers of Hendersonville, Justin Rogers and his wife LaShea of Hendersonville and Cody Rogers of Hendersonville; her brother, Keith Young and his wife Pam of Hendersonville; grandchild, Maddilyn Rogers; sister in-law, Sonya Morris and her husband Terry; brother in-law, Keith Rogers and his wife Sonja Johnson; nieces, Natasha Morris, Michelle Morris, Tara Rogers and her husband Nelson; great-niece, Kyley Hemphill and great-nephew Jordan Morris.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 28, in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Rev. John Maltby will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life Elizabeth House, 571 S. Allen Rd.
