Ruth Elizabeth Turbeville Heatherly

February 23, 1935 - January 19, 2019

Ruth Elizabeth Turbeville Heatherly, 83, a lifelong resident of Hendersonville, NC, went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, January 19th, after a brief illness.  She was the youngest, and last living of ten children, of the late Dausey and Ella Turbeville.

Ruth attended Hendersonville High School and Blue Ridge Community College.  She was a homemaker and a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, painting and singing, which included singing with The Joy Singers, as well as her church choirs.  She was the Children’s Choir Director and a Sunday School teacher for many years at First Baptist Church Hendersonville. The biggest joy in her life was her children, grand and great-grandchildren. She was a fun and beloved mother and “Nanny”.

She shared 63 years of marriage with the late James Grady Heatherly, Sr.  She is survived by three children and their spouses, Lynn Cooper (Jeff), Jamey Heatherly (Anita), and Lora Molton (Bryan), all of Hendersonville. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Lane, Marci, Tonya, Kerra, Tiffany, Jay, Amanda, Matthew, Mickey, Greg, 16 great-grandchildren and 7 grandchildren-in-laws.

A service will be held at 2 pm, Friday, January 25th in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Greg Mathis, Mud Creek Baptist Church.
