Richard “Dick” M. Allen, 91, of Hendersonville passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Carolina Village Care Center following a period of declining health. He was the son of the late Theodore and Bessie Ballantine Allen. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Hoffman Allen, who passed away in 2010.
A native of New Jersey, he had resided in Henderson County for many years. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1951. Dick was a veteran of the United States Navy and was employed by Ford Motor Company for 34 years prior to retiring in 1988. He had a love for traveling and enjoyed playing golf. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching baseball, football and basketball. He especially enjoyed watching his Atlanta Braves, Carolina Panthers and Michigan Wolverines. His greatest pride was his family and he loved them deeply.
He is survived by his daughter, Andrea “Andy” Immelt and her husband, Jeff; son, Bradford “Brad” Allen and his wife, Betsy; granddaughters, Sarah Immelt and her husband, Chris Renno and Jessica Hansen and her husband, Brian; sister, Doris Mielich and niece, Karen Mielich.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Carolina Village at 9am on Monday, October 29, 2018.
