Preston Sloop

Preston Thomas Sloop, 17, of Pisgah Forest, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at his home in the Bass Lake community. He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, moving to Bass Lake in January of this year. He was a son of J.D. Sloop, Jr. and Deborah Lynn Yongue of Pisgah Forest. A sophomore at West Henderson High School, he loved to fish, play the guitar, and play Henderson County baseball. He attended First Baptist Church in Hendersonville. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Thomas L. Yongue and J. D. Sloop.

In addition to his parents, survivors include two brothers, J. D. Sloop III, of Pisgah Forest, Scott Sloop of California; two sisters, Melissa Froberg of Chicago, IL, Charity Daloia of Ft. Mill, SC; maternal grandmother, Mae Carroll of Sardis, Alabama, paternal grandmother, Ruth Sloop of Burbank, IL; a number of aunts and uncles; several cousins; a niece, Jessica Renee Riveria; two nephews, Robert and Joseph Daloia; and best friend, Colby Chrisman.

A funeral will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, May 15, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Revs. Ryan Pack and Scott Shives will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm, prior to the service at the church.
