Mildred “Millie” Estelle Weiss, 92, of Hendersonville, NC and formerly of Pembroke Pines, Florida, died at her home after an extended illness late Tuesday afternoon, May 26, 2020, with her loving children by her side.

Mrs. Weiss was born in Amsterdam, NY, on Sunday, March 24, 1928, to the late Benjamin Louis and Ethel (Sussman) Johnson and was the youngest of five children. On August 21, 1955, in Miami, Florida, as the former Millie E. Johnson, she married her loving husband of 34 years, Mr. Herbert “Herb” B. Weiss, who died on April 4, 1991.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, Gary M. Weiss and Lori J. Weiss, both of Hendersonville, NC. In addition to her late husband and beloved parents, she is preceded in death by three siblings.

Mrs. Weiss was a loving and devoted mother and enjoyed using her creativity in many ways, especially the art of cooking for her family and many friends. She enjoyed making others smile. She had a vivacity that left an impression on all who knew and loved her.

At the family’s request, there will be private services to celebrate Mrs. Weiss’ long and eventful life, Friday, May 29, 2020, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rabbi Rachael Jackson of Agudas Israel Congregation officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Mrs. Weiss to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Millie will be forever missed by her loving and devoted children and many, many dear friends.
