Mildred “Mimi” C. Johnson, 64, of Hendersonville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 21, 2011, at Park Ridge Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was a daughter of the late John, “Pap”, and Marjorie, “Mam” Case. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Brittany Corpening and a brother, Bud Case.
She was employed with Hayes and Lunsford for many years. She was the VFW 16th district President and was a member of Apple Valley Holiness Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Roy Johnson; two sons, Brian Ward and his wife Jane and Byron Shane Ward; two daughters, Michelle Ward and Denise Joyce and her husband Matt; a brother, Hubert Case; a sister-in-law, Brenda Case; her grandchildren, Brianna Stepp and her husband Kyle, Brandon Ward, Shelby Murray, Josh Ward, Shelby Corpening, Colby Ward, Kyle Davis, Jared Ward, and Logan Joyce; great-grandchildren, Giovanni Munoz and Lane Stepp. She loved life to its fullest and will be greatly missed.
A funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The Reverend Roy Barnwell and Steve Starling will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the VFW Post Auxiliary, P.O. Box 716, New Bethel, NC 27812 “Wounded Warriors”.
