Mildred Lanning Skidds

September 2, 1924 - November 15, 2019

Mildred Lanning Skidds, 95, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord Friday, November 15, 2019 at CarePartners Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, Mildred was a daughter of the late Samuel Newton and Margaret Drake Lanning. She was the wife of the late Everette Osborne Skidds who died in 2015. Mildred was also preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Waters.

Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mildred was an animal lover and enjoyed sewing, singing, playing the piano and writing poetry.

Survivors include her children, Linda Steed of Asheville, Ronald Osborne Skidds and his wife Patricia of Cohutta, GA, Nancy Penn and her husband Scott of Buford, GA, Myra Skidds of Lawrenceville, GA, Natasha Clancy and her husband Daniel of Asheville; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and her loving cat, Tinkerbell.

A funeral will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2019 in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wally Shamburger officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service in the chapel. Entombment will be private in The Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
