Michael James Holbert, 58, of Mills River passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Elizabeth House. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was a son of the late James Jefferson Holbert and Myrtle Maxwell Holbert of Hendersonville. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Mullis. He was a Vietnam era Marine Corps veteran, and Army reservist. He retired from General Electric following thirty-five years of service. He loved the outdoors and woodworking. He enjoyed exploring the backroads of Henderson County, was active in the Boy Scouts, and later was an avid supporter.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his loving partner and faithful companion, Linda Cox of Hendersonville; a son Brian Holbert and his wife Melissa of Matthews; a daughter, Angela Holbert of Hendersonville; three brothers, Curtis Holbert and his wife Sheila, Jeff Holbert and his wife Sarah, Carl Holbert, all of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Joseph, Nathaniel, Madelyn; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Mortuary. Rev. Carroll Moffitt will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WNC Toys for Tots, 1035 Kyles Creek Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

Dad, I love you so much, you are the best dad anyone ever had. Thanks for teaching me to me a man, for teaching me your love of the outdoors, for playing chess and battleship with me on your footstool when I was a kid, and for being there for me when I was an adult. I know you are not suffering now, and you are with loved ones. I will take care of your grandkids. Love ya, see ya on the other side Brian
