Maureen Alice Kramer Vorheis

April 2, 1932 - November 10, 2019

Maureen Alice Kramer Vorheis, 87, of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at her home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Francis and Maureen Loughman Seiler.

Maureen was a beautiful, strong, vibrant woman. After having 5 children in 7 years, she worked in the computer industry in California. With her sharp intelligence and tenacity, and with little formal training, she eventually became the manager of the Systems and Programming Department for the City of Oakland. She and her husband Richard retired to Hendersonville in 2009 to be with family.

Maureen was always determined to create a stable life for her family and did that with unwavering strength and love. She had a deep connection to nature, and her fondest times were taking her children out for long hikes in the California hills. Her beautiful blue eyes conveyed the deep compassion she had learned from living in this world, along with the sparkle, wit and Irish feistiness that no one could suppress.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard Vorheis: her children, Kevin Kramer of Hendersonville, Ryan Kramer (Heather) of Gimli, Canada, Linda Benson (Bruce) of Gimli, Canada, Laurence Kramer of Selkirk, Canada, and Marianne Van’t Hoff (Johannes) of Hendersonville; brother, Francis Xavier Seiler of New York; and grandchildren, Jackson, Tiberius and Allysandra, Isabelle, Kaela and Melodi, Daran and Sarah.

Maureen’s final resting spot will be at Carolina Memorial Sanctuary, looking out on the beautiful mountains, and nature’s grace.
The family wishes to thank Maureen’s very special caregivers, and Dr. Randy Tryon and his staff for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Maureen’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
