Dear Arthur, Pat, Sherry, and other family members I first met Mattie when Pat and I became friends many years ago in Hendersonville. Pat and I would go to Charlotte to visit her folks - Lynn was a cheerleader in high school (absolutely gorgeous, I might add), Sherry had finished high school and was as beautiful as any model (looked like Bo Derek), and Pat was a combination of the two and just beautiful as well. Mattie and Art were so proud of their three beautiful children, who ruled the household as only three daughters can. Mattie was the epitomy of the perfect mother and housewife - there was always something good cooking in the kitchen and she made sure the household was (pretty) calm before Arthur came home from work. Mattie was very talented in her own right with the crafts and baskets she made. Bottom line, I loved going to Art and Mattie's house - she made it a true home. Dear Sherry and Pat, My heart hurts once more with the passing of your wonderful Mother. She gave life to three fine daughters, all of whom were blessed with many gifts, not the least of which were intellect and compassion. I wish that I could have known her better. Mr. Corn, Sherry, and Pat, Tom and I tried to come to Mrs. Corn's service today. We got tied up in a traffic jam on I-26 for several hrs. I am so sorry for your loss. The Corns were such a special part of my teenage years and I think of you often.

I had so much love & respect for her she was a wonderful & loving human being...a very special person & i will surely miss her...but she will always be in my heart.

my aunt pat gave some fake peony flowers that were in nannys hospital room and they remind me of her so i want peony roses to carry my spirit when im gone. i think pink roses carry nannys spirit. i love ya, i miss ya, and ill see ya in heaven sooner or later.
