Mattie Griffin Corn, 89, of Hendersonville, passed peacefully into her new life in Heaven to join precious loved ones waiting for her early Tuesday morning, June 28, 2011 after a brief illness. She was a resident of Pine Park Retirement Inn. She was born in Travelers Rest, SC to the late Isaac Bogan and Angie Ward Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Lynn Moore; sisters, Edna McLean and Geneva Tankersley; brothers, Earl, Carl, and J. T. Griffin.
She was a loving and faithful wife to her devoted husband of 70 wonderful years, Arthur Corn. Her surviving daughters, Sherrill Elaine Wunderlich of Hendersonville and Patricia Ann Goins of Flat Rock are now commending her care to their sweet, waiting sister. Her adoring grandchildren, who will miss her so dearly, are Terry Wunderlich, Greg Wunderlich, Jenny Wunderlich-Prada, Arthur Calloway, Scott Matthews and Angela Byrd. Her great-grandchildren, who so filled her with delight and joy, are Lydia, Penelope, Ellie, Will, Shawn, Taylor and Kelsea. Also surviving are her in-laws, Walter and Kitty Corn of Arden, and Jewel Brooks of Hendersonville whose endless support is so appreciated by the entire family. She will also be sorely missed by her many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life and legacy of sweetness will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Harold McKinnish officiating. The family will receive friends 12:30-2:00pm in the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.
