Mary Ruth Wilde

July 19, 1929 - April 24, 2020

Mary Ruth Wilde, 90, of Hendersonville passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in Cleveland, GA to the late Bennie Palmer and Emma Lee Palmer Jones. Mary was also preceded in death by siblings, Marion Palmer, Gene Palmer, Bruce Palmer and Ivie Neal Palmer Young; and brothers-in-laws, Glenn Hart, Edward Young, and Reverend Perry Forrest.
Mary was employed at Berkeley Mills and Grey Hosiery Mill. She attended Hendersonville First Church of the Nazarene. Mary loved finding nice clothing and other household items and either cheaply resold at a little shop she rented at the flea market or gave them away. Her family and friends were amazed at the big gardens she planted of vegetables and strawberries which she often canned or gave away. She lived out her Christian faith by always putting others first.
Left to cherish her memory are her children by Harold Ben Wilde (deceased): Ann Clayton (Charlie) of Wake Forest, NC, Sue Justus (Ronald) of Hendersonville, Nealon Wilde (Teresa) of Asheville, and Lealon Wilde (Sandra) of Hendersonville; grandchildren Zachary Clayton (Dana), Amanda Justus Galvin (Derek), Elizabeth Justus Meunier (Thomas) and Christina Clayton Brandal (Keith) with great-grandchildren, Carson, Owen, Victoria, Allison, Lily, Maggie, Annabelle, Josephine, Juliette, and Adrian, sisters, Ruby Hart and Lucille Forrest; sisters-in-law, Glenda Palmer and Margie Palmer; and several nieces and nephews. We will always remember her tender heart and generosity toward others and great Southern cooking for her family- especially her sweet potato pie.
Mary will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Thursday, April 30, 2020. Reverends Tommy Justus and Dwayne Durham will officiate the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 111 N. Washington St., Hendersonville, NC 28739.
