Marjorie Anna Steele "Margie" Maxwell

November 10, 1957 - February 13, 2020

Margie stepped out of this world into eternity on February 13, 2020. She left behind a sudden and vicious diagnosis of lung cancer and embraced her true identity as a daughter of the Most High. She now dwells in His presence where His love consumes her and where pain cannot touch her. Those of us remaining here are left to walk in her legacy… a legacy of selflessness, of heroic dedication to family and friends, of gentle strength, and of sincerity and stability. We are left with memories of a beautiful woman who had nothing to prove because she lived her truth in how she cared for others, never looking for recognition or anything in return. Margie resembled her dad with many of his mannerisms including the ability to pop out a one liner when least expected or to display a sneaky little grin when she knew something we didn’t. But she had the heart of her mom, a tender yet fierce heart, the kind of heart that sacrificed without a first or second thought, the kind of heart that cared about the smallest of details to make someone else feel special and included, a servant’s heart. Margie had apparently been a bit of a mischievous youngster who could dodge punishment with her hazel-eyed, curly-haired charm. But somehow life turned that mischievous nature into a devoted, hard-working wife and mother. She met the love of her life, Mickey, early at the age of 15, and they built an admirable life together. Memories of her abound from the simple things she enjoyed like fishing or working a puzzle to time at the beach and the lake. She made the best sweet tea hands down, and for those who like potato salad and pistachio salad, she had those mastered as well. But to know Margie was to know a mother and a “frammy” who absolutely adored and loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She took such pleasure in whatever brought them joy. Margie will be missed deeply, oh so deeply. May we all rest in the peace that passes all understanding until we meet her again.
