Marie Gordon

September 5, 1939 - January 9, 2011

Marie Gertrude Thompson Gordon, 71, of Hendersonville went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, January 9, 2011. She was a daughter of the late George and Gertrude Cox Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, James D. Gordon.

She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed completing puzzles, embroidering, and canning. She loved everyone that she came in contact with and never seemed to meet a stranger. She was loved and will be truly missed by the family and friends she leaves behind.

Surviving are her children, John W. Reynolds of Hendersonville, Frances Jean Reynolds Huntley and husband, James of Hendersonville, and Mark Marlar and wife, Heather of Newman, NC; granddaughter, Vania Yazzie and husband, Brian of Norfolk, VA; step-daughter, Joyce Swain and husband, Frank of E. Flat Rock; step-grandchildren, Joe Swain and wife, Angela and Carl Swain and wife, Leigh, all of Flat Rock; step-great grandchildren, Heather, Joseph, Kayla, and Brianna Swain, all of Flat Rock; brothers, Homer E. Thompson and wife, Marie of Flat Rock and Joe Ray Thompson of Hendersonville; sister, Frances Thompson of Hendersonville; a number of nieces and nephews; and lots of close friends.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Reverend Glen Hicks will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 PM ñ 8 PM, Friday, January 14, 2011 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Marie’s brother and sister also invite friends to their home at 86 Pilot Mountain Rd., Hendersonville on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 2 PM – 5 PM.
