Linda Dillard, 71, of Mills River, died Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Pardee Hospital.

A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Bessie Whitaker.  Linda is also preceded in death by two sisters, Fran Goode and Lucille Pace; two brothers, Robert and Fred Whitaker; and a daughter, Mahalia Dillard.

She was a member of Naples Baptist Church and sang in the choir. She enjoyed being “Maw Maw” to her grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Edwin “Brad” Dillard; two daughters, Amanda Dillard of Fletcher and Renee Privette and her husband David of Mills River; a son, Edwin Dillard, Jr. and his wife Sonya of Jacksonville, NC; six grandchildren, Danielle Dillard, Brad Dillard, Jordan Privette, Chris Dillard, Eli Griffin, and Micah Griffin; one great-grandchild, Amelia Dillard; a brother, William Whitaker and his wife Bett of Mountain Home; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Naples Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Merck officiating.  Burial will follow at Mills River Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Always pray to have eyes that see the best in people.  A heart that forgives the worst.  A mind that forgets the bad, and a soul that never loses faith in God.
