On Saturday, February 15, 2020, Lavada Mae Norris Reese, wife, mother, daughter, and sister, passed away at the age of 84 years.

A native of Etowah, NC, Lavada was born on September 15, 1935. She worked at General Electric until she retired in 1991.

Lavada was married to Eric Darren Reese Jr. and had three children, Sheila Jane Hathaway, Anthony Eric Reese, and Chrystal Hope Lindsey. She grew up with 11 brothers and sisters. Lavada was preceded in death by her husband Eric; parents, Neil and Edith Norris; and siblings Annie Norris, Richard Norris, Mac Norris, Bill Norris, Sue Sweeney, and Ada Orr.

Lavada was a faithful member of Etowah Baptist Church since 1964. She loved serving those around her, making crafts, working in her flower garden, quilting, crocheting, and reading her Bible and Christian novels. Lavada will forever be remembered as “Nanny” by those in her family. Everyone was always welcome at Nanny’s, where she loved to cook and make others feel at home.

Lavada is survived by and will forever be lovingly remembered by her children Sheila, Anthony, and Hope, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and siblings Webb Norris, C.L. Norris, Jim Norris, Johnny Norris, and Genevieve Ward.

A graveside service in honor of Lavada’s life will be held at 11am, Friday, February 21, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 538 Tracy Grove Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Fruitland Baptist Bible College, 1455 Gilliam Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
