August 9, 1934 - February 23, 2013

Juanita T. Lance, 78, of Hendersonville, passed away with her loving family by her side Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Elizabeth House.

She was a native of Moncks Corner, SC and a resident of Henderson County since 1980. Juanita was a daughter of the late Alfred Lester and Bertie Morris Thomas and was the wife of the late J.D. Lance who passed away 2009. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Thomas Whaley, three brothers, Edward Lester ì Rounzaî Thomas, Levon Thomas and Harry Thomas.

She was a nature lover, gardener and avid reader.She was a longtime member of Jehovahís Witnesses. Juanita was a loving mother who encouraged her children to learn.

Survivors include daughter, Carol Lance of Edneyville, Susan Lance Pittman and husband Steve of Gastonia, NC and Robin Lance of Hendersonville; son, Duane Lance of Moncks Corner, SC; sister, Shirley Gowdy and husband Lee of Lexington, SC; three brothers, Ralph Thomas and wife Patsy of N. Charleston, SC, Donny Thomas and wife Faye of Huger, SC, and Danny Thomas and wife Sherry of Huger, SC; four grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
