John J. Keenan, 92, of Hendersonville went to be with his loving wife Dorothy Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Elizabeth House. A native of Syracuse, NY, John lived in Hendersonville the last twelve years. He was the son of the late John Francis and Agnes Lawyer Keenan. John was the owner of a heating and plumbing business in Ipswich, MA. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. During WWII, John was a Seabee with the Navy. He was a member of the Henderson County VFW and American Legion. While in Oroville, CA, John was a member of the Honor Guard. He loved deep sea fishing. John will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy Ann Warblow of Etowah, Kathleen Pelletier of Hendersonville, Christine Haller of Bristol, CT, Deborah Keenan of Etowah, and Susan Smith and her husband John of Newburyport, MA; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be at 10:00 am Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard. Father Shawn OíNeal will be the celebrant. A private entombment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Friday in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Military honors will be conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post # 77, Hedrick-Rhodes VFW Post # 5206, and DAV Chapter #14.
