Mrs. Janet Ann Changthoralek (Howells) after a long, fierce and hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer, passed peacefully in her home in Hendersonville, NC on March 13, 2021 at the age of 60.
Janet is survived by her husband Tom Changthoralek, Hendersonville, NC; her son, Jeremy & Jessica (Miles, Maddox, Mars) Changthoralek of Denver, CO; her daughter, Jennifer & Peter (Kenley, Paxton, Mason, Brielle) Ratkowski of Boiling Springs, SC; her sister Joanie & Todd (Ryan, Aaron & Brett) VanDerSchaegen of Tampa Fl; her brothers, Chris & Nansie (Zachary, Maitland, Riley, Joie & Jillian) Wikel of Swansboro, NC and Michael (Lucas) Wikel of Richmond, VT; Brother-in Law Thoy & Wanpen (Luschanee) Changthoralek and Tu Changthoralek; her Sister-in-Law Tammy Changthoralek; her Aunt and Uncle; Dave & Alice Wikel of Sandusky, OH; Sara and Mike O’Neal of The Villages, FL; Ned & Carol, of Swanton, OH; Dean & Terri Wikel of Berlin Heights, OH; and Aunt Janet Van Vleck of Madison WI; her nephew Jason Howells; her niece Stephanie Howells.
Janet was preceded in death by her grandson Noah Changthoralek; her father, Neil Wikel; her parents Jerry & Nancy Howells; her brothers John Wikel, Richard Wikel, Keith Howells and Kevan Howells; her grandparents Franklin & Gertrude Reifert and John & Lucille Wikel; her Uncle Mike Van Vleck; her Aunt Gina Altamont, her niece Jillian Howells and her beloved Scottish Terrier, Max.
Janet was born in Lorain, Ohio to Nancy and Neil Wikel. She moved with her family to Asheville, NC when she was 15 years old and attended Asheville High School. She met Tom in school, and he helped her pass art class and won her heart! Tom & Janet were married on February 29, 1980 and through their 41-year union, welcomed two children and eight grandchildren.
Janet was known as the life of any party and shared her boundless, contagious laugh. She warmly welcomed every person as a new friend and loved all deeply and without reservation. She was a seeker of new experiences and eager to include everyone in her spontaneous adventures. Janet’s fun-loving spirit will be deeply missed.
