Hubert Lewis Stepp, Jr., age 73, of Hendersonville, NC died after a brief illness early Friday morning, March 15, 2019.

Mr. Stepp was born on Sunday, April 15, 1945 in Henderson County to the late Hubert Lewis and Idella (Anders) Stepp, Sr. On August 24, 1963 in Greenville, SC he married his wife of 55 years, the former Shirlely Ann Gravley who survives.

Mr. Stepp was a butcher and manager for over 40 years with Ingles Markets and with Food Lion Grocery Stores. He was a faithful member of the Baptist Church and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Shirley of Hendersonville and 2 daughters, Kimberly Pegg and her husband Richard and Carrie Osteen both of Hendersonville. Also surviving are his 3 grandsons, Jordan, Evan and Jacob Pegg also of Hendersonville and a great-grandson, Braylen and 6 brothers and sisters. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, March 20, 2019 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the family receiving guests 1 hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville.

Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Mr. Stepp to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the donor’s choice.

Lewis will forever be missed by his loving family and many friends.
