Helen Carroll

September 5, 1924 - March 4, 2009

Helen Louise Carroll, 84, of Flat Rock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at her home, while in the loving care of her family and hospice, after a long battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Freno Jones and Viola Hart Jones Pace.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Roy Carroll, who passed away September of 2008; and a brother, Charles A. Jones.

She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She cherished her home (where she was born). She loved to work in her yard and was known for her beautiful flowers. She was a member of Shepherd Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by her two children, a son Larry V. Carroll and his wife Kathryn of Flat Rock; a daughter Ophelia “Tootsie” Kuykendall and her husband Harold of Hendersonville; her beloved grandson, Roy Keith Carroll of Flat Rock; and her cherished life-long friend, Edith Edmundson of Flat Rock.

The family is very grateful to Kathryn, her daughter-in-law, for being a wonderful caregiver to our mother.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with the Reverend Herb Putnam officiating. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home. Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. An online register book is available at www.forestlawnhendersonville.com.

Forest Lawn Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.
