Harry Sawick, 95, of Hendersonville, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Charles George VA Hospice Center following a sudden illness. A native of Pennsylvania, he had resided in Henderson County for the past 65 years. Harry was a son of the late Michael and Katherine Sawick. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William and Johnny Sawick.
Harry achieved the rank of Staff Sargent in the U.S. Army, while serving in Occupational Japan, New Guinea, and the Philippines with the 58th Chemical Warfare Co. during World War II. He was an auto body repairman for many years in Henderson County prior to retirement in 1982. Harry enjoyed fixing things and always looked forward to defeating a challenge. He loved to spend time in his garage repairing furniture and cars. He was a past member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lois; daughters, Carol Bright and Audrey Sawick of Hendersonville, and Sharon Moore and husband David of New Symrna Beach, FL; son, Michael Sawick of Hendersonville; granddaughter, Kasey Earley-Barilari of Hendersonville; great-granddaughter, Lilly Barilari of Hendersonville.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pastor John Earnhardt will officiate.
