Harley Latt Edwards, 58, of Hendersonville, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at his home.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was a son of Margaret Massey Edwards of Hendersonville and the late Amos Edwards.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Jackson and Brenda Livingston.
He served his country in the US Army and was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his “Better Half”, Melba Williams; four sons, Harley Edwards, Jr. of Hendersonville, Michael Edwards of MI, Chad Edwards of SC, and Adam Edwards of MS; a daughter, Jean McMahan and her husband Nathan of Hendersonville; three step-sons, Bobby, Roger and Barry Heatherly; one step-daughter, Kathy Heaton; four sisters, Viola Gibbs and her husband Eddie, Edith Halford, Patsy Torcivia and her husband Louis and Gail Huntley and her husband Robert all of Hendersonville; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 10, 2009, at Upward Baptist Church. The Reverends Paul Chandler and Dan Blackwell will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Western North Carolina National Guard Military Funeral Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the homes of Melba Williams and Gail Huntley.
