Gale Heatherly

April 18, 1936 - September 5, 2011

Gale K. Heatherly, 75, of Flat Rock went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, September 5, 2011 after an extended illness at The Laurels of Hendersonville.

Born in Chick Springs, SC, she lived in Henderson County after her husband retired from the Army in 1977. She was a devoted wife of a U.S. Soldier for 21 years, raising 5 children.

She was the daughter of the late Earl Harold Coyle and Lillie King Coyle. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Carrie Parris of Saluda, Lila Mae (Jimmie) Crawford of Dana and Elizabeth (Sis) Howe of Baltimore, MD. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. She retired from Carolina Village where she was a dietician. She was a beloved mother and ìGrannyî who will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Alfred C. (Lum) Heatherly; two daughters, Wanda Watkins and her husband Pete of Hendersonville, Teresa Lane and her husband Mike of Hendersonville; three sons, William (Bill) Heatherly and his wife Tammy of Hendersonville, James Heatherly and his wife Terri of Etowah, Alfred (AJ) Heatherly and his wife Lea of Reedley, CA; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Boyce (Bud) Coyle and his wife Crystal from Lakeland, FL; one sister, Brenda Walden of East Flat Rock; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Her nephew, Chaplain Ted Edwards of the US Marines, stationed at Parris Island, SC, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM-12:30 PM prior to the service in the chapel. A private entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
