Frankie ìWimpyî Douglas Ledbetter, 61, of Horse Shoe, died peacefully, following an extended illness, on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Elizabeth House. He was a son of the late Ernest and Irene Ledbetter and was a lifetime resident of Henderson County.
Frankie attended Hendersonville High School. He owned and operated Ledbetter Stone Work for over 23 years. Many homes and businesses in Henderson and Buncombe counties show off his fine stonework. Frankie was a craftsman like no other.
Frankieís wit and sense of humor was one of his best traits. He loved teasing someone, and playing tricks.
Frankieís heart was the size of Texas, and sometimes he just couldnít say no. His love of antique cars brought him and Janice (the love of his life) together. Together they bought a 1966 Chevrolet Nova, which they fixed up and enjoyed taking to different car shows. Frankieís other love was for the Etowah Horse Shoe Fire and Rescue Dept., where he had been a member for 23 years.
His most prized accomplishment was his marriage to his wife Janice and his two sons and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janice Gilland Ledbetter; sons, Nicholas Ledbetter (Audrey Garrick), and Jeff Galloway and his wife Jamie Hannah Galloway; grandsons, Kaden and Korbin Galloway; granddaughters, Kaelynn Ledbetter and Sarah Raegan Ledbetter (due 5/5/15); step-grandchildren, Bojana Dabich and Tiffany Hill; step-great-grandchildren, Malachi Davis and Zerrick Hill; brothers, Roy Ledbetter and Debbie, Harry Ledbetter, David Ledbetter; sisters, Phyllis Bogan and Mike of Spartanburg, SC, and Karen Brown and Gene of Mtn. Home; brother-in-law, Frank Gilland and wife Lynda of Columbia, SC; several nieces and nephews and a multitude of extended grandchildren.
