Evelyn Kristina Williams, 76, of Mills River, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 30, 2019. She passed peacefully in her sleep, at the Elizabeth House, surrounded by family. She was born November 30, 1943, the daughter of the late Jason Williams and Allie Vaughn Beddingfield, both of Henderson County.

She was the former wife of the late General George Whitmire of Zirconia, NC, and Anthony D. Woodard of Cashiers, NC. She graduated from Hendersonville High School, Class of 1959, and was a member of the local VFW Auxiliary. She worked in various occupations over the years in the hospitality industry as a manager for the local BPO Elks Club, VFW, and OTR transport driver and as a healthcare/hospice care provider. She was a loving mother and grandmother with a witty sense of humor, contagious laugh, and a personality that could charm a room full of strangers. She also had a sense of strength, fortitude, compassion and conviction that made an indelible impression and was evident to all who knew her.

The youngest of 8 children, Kris was preceded in death by her sisters, Mrs. Maybelle Jones of Hendersonville, NC, Mrs. Anne Keller of Marion, NC; brother, Ralph Williams of Sevierville, TN and Charles Williams of Dana, NC.

She is survived by her sister Mrs. Betty Proctor of High Point, NC; brothers, Sonny Weston of Hartwell, GA and Don Williams of Edneyville, NC.
She is also survived by her sons, George (Buddy) Whitmire of Raleigh, NC, Michael Whitmire of Philadelphia, TN, Robin Whitmire of Hendersonville, NC; daughters, Kymberly Jacobs of Mills River, NC and Jade Cason of Fountain Inn, SC; several grandchildren including Summer, Stephanee, Devon, DJ, Bella and Connor; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey.

The family will receive friends for a memorial service at 2pm on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be officiated by Reverend Dan Blackwell. Donations for flowers of arrangements can be made with Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Any charitable donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, as was her request.
