Eula Mae Odom, 78, of Hendersonville, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Pardee Memorial Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Fannie McCarson Corn, and the wife of the late Jim Odom and Fred Stepp, Jr. She retired from Berkekey Mills after twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Balfour Baptist Church, and was active in local civic activities. She was a gifted artist and pianist, and will be remembered as a most loving and devoted mother. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Dewey Corn, and two sisters, Edith Case and Edna Corn.
Survivors include a son, Bruce Stepp of Hendersonville; a daughter, Barbara Crawford and her husband Jim of Hendersonville; two brothers, Arthur Corn and his wife Mattie of East Flat Rock, Walter Corn and his wife Kitty of Arden; a sister, Jewel Brooks of Hendersonville; two step granddaughters, Jessica Vernold, Erin Crawford, both of Bradenton, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Balfour Baptist Church. Revs. Travis Harrison and Joe Mullins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 pm prior to the service in the church, and at other times will be at the home of Joy Brooks. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Balfour Baptist Church, 2502 Asheville Hwy., Hendersonville, NC 28791.
