Erwin Lee Huggins, 66, of East Flat Rock, passed away Friday, January 9, 2020 at his home. A native of Fort Knox, KY, he was the son of the late George E. Huggins, Jr. and Dillie Blackwell Staton. He retired from the United States Postal Service, was of the Christian faith, and in his spare time you could find him hunting, fishing or riding his Harley.

Mr. Huggins proudly served our country in the United States Army; A combat veteran who was awarded with multiple bronze stars. He retired after 20 years of service. He was a life-member of the VFW Post 5206, a member of the Henderson County Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 77.

He is survived by his sons, Shane Huggins of Hendersonville, Justin Huggins of Hendersonville, and Jayson Huggins of Nuremberg Germany; grandchildren, Brianna, Brooklyn and Lillian Huggins; brothers, Charles Robert Huggins, Danny Joe Huggins, Jerry L. Staton, and Jan Staton; sisters, Jill Staton Ackis, and Sandy Staton. As well as Alexandria Jones whom he loved as a daughter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clay F. Staton and his brother, Kim Staton.

A memorial service will be held at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors at a later date..

Lee stayed true to his life motto and will be greatly missed.
