August 29, 1932 - May 16, 2019

Emma Prior, 86, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Thursday May 16, 2019 at Cherry Springs Assisted Living Center. A native of California, Emma lived in Hendersonville since 2012. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Tina Gutierrez. She was preceded in death by her firstborn child Barbara Jean Prior and her husband Richard “Dick Prior to whom she was married to for 66 years.

She was a member of the Asheville North Seventh-day Adventist Church. Emma was a homemaker most of her life. She was also a model of bathing suits, clothing and a hand model for jewelry. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crafting, knitting, crocheting and gardening. Her hobbies included collecting butterflies, seashells and decorative owls.

Survivors include her eldest daughter, Geraldine Prior Tucker of Hendersonville, NC; her son Michael Patrick Prior of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Elizabeth Amann (Jeremy) of Biltmore Lake, NC; Ash Tucker (Jessica) of Sarasota, FL. Troy Prior (Lia) of Jonesboro, AR; Kimberly Nearns (Ronald) of Hofheim, German;. eight great-grandchildren; and a number nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Asheville North Seventh-day Adventist Church, 364 Broadway St., Asheville, NC 28801.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or the Asheville North Seventh-day Adventist Church Building Fund.
