Emily Hill Baker, 57, went to be with the Lord, Friday, February 13, 2009, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late John Blythe and Ida Mae Hill. A member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fairview, she was a sister in Christ to many, and a friend to all. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hill Bishop; a niece, Miranda Banks; a great niece, Madison Banks; and a nephew, Chad Hill.
Survivors include her loving husband of twenty-two years, Kenneth Baker; a daughter, Laura Baker of Boone; two step-sons, Kristopher Baker, serving with the US Army in Vincenza, Italy, Dustin Baker of Gulfport, MS; four brothers, John B. Hill, Jr. of Marietta, Ga, Charles ìLeeî Hill of Flat Rock, Donald Hill of Dana, Paul Hill of Winterpark, FL; four sisters, Mary Hill Cleveland of Salisbury, Louise Hill Spurlin of Maiden, Ann Hill Hutchinson of Fletcher, Priscilla Hill Wyatt of Westminster, SC; three grandchildren, Juliette Baker, Kira Baker, Dustin Baker, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 16, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church in Fairview. Revs. Bob Ponder, Chris Reese, and Don Fox will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Sunday at Forest Lawn Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Guests may sign a register book at www.forestlawnhendersonville.com.
