Hendersonville, NC

Donald Robert ìDonî Sisk, 76 of Hendersonville, died Friday, May 23, 2014.

A native of Shelby, NC, he was the son of the late Walter Carlos ìPeteî Sisk and Mary Porter Sisk. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, George William ìBillî Sisk, Norman Richard ìBartî Sisk, and Carlos Dewitt Sisk.

Don was a US Air Force veteran and a graduate of Cleveland Tech and Fruitland Baptist Bible College.

Throughout his life, Don worked in sales for Bost Bread, McMahan Funeral Home, and a career of over 40 years in insurance. He and his wife owned and operated an insurance agency, Carolina Insurance Marketing, Inc., in Marion. Don loved helping people, especially seniors, meet and manage their insurance needs. He was successful at this, meeting company quotas and earning many trips to conventions.

Don was a faithful member of Mud Creek Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir and participation in senior activities. He also served as a volunteer chaplain at Pardee Hospital.

Southern gospel music, especially quartet style, was a delight of Donís life. He and Carolyn traveled across the Southeast to venues and concerts as he interviewed and recorded artists and groups for his radio program, Southern Gospel Insight. His program always ended with ìKeep looking up, Christian, Jesus may return any moment!î

Wherever Don went, he reached out to people and shared about his Jesus. His salutation was ìIf we donít meet again on this side, Iíll see you on the other side. Iíve made my reservation and itís non-cancelable.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Dalton Sisk; three sons, Timothy Sisk of Marion, Donald Sisk and his wife Emily of Shelby, and Frederick Sisk of Boone; a stepson, Mark Freeman and his wife Emily of Hendersonville; two stepdaughters, Susan Freeman of Morganton, and Sherri Holbert and her husband Rick of Hendersonville; a grandson, Brandon Sisk of Rockingham, NC; a granddaughter, Kinley Freeman of Hendersonville; a sister, Evelyn Harper of Tampa, FL; and several special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Mud Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Mathis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00PM prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
