In the beautiful mountains of Highland Lake, on May 28, 1934, Henry Richard "Dick Case was born to his parents, Genral Grant CAse and Florence fisher Case. "Dickie", as he was soon to be called, was one of eight childeren. Times were hard during the early years. they all worked to put food on the table, milking the cows, gathering the eggs and growing a garden. While growing up, "Dickie" worked with his uncle, Harry Gilreath, at Bonclarken. Dickie was blessed with the gift of gab, never meating a stranger as they were all called "Cuz". One day uncle Harry told Dickie if he could be silent for one hour he would give him a dollar. As one hour passed Dickie did not utter a word. At the end of the hour he asked he asked uncle Harry for his dollar. This was the start of his trading years. Something he has enjoyed to do all his life! From roadside stands where he sold tomatoes and throughout his life, he has always had a way for making a way. He even sold an airplane to a man who didnt have a license to fly a plane. His love for music, as he plays the piano, guitar, harmonica or anything that you handed him was sown deep in his soul. On a summer day in 1953, he was working at a station in town. He saw the women that he knew was going to be his wife, Janette Hyder walking down the street. He was persistant and as the story goes he proposed six times. She finally accepted. As he has often said, "We married for better and for worse, "She couldnt do no better and I couldnt do no worse". They started their family, DannySamuel, Debra Lynn (waiting in heaven), Myra Julia, Marketta Yvette and Steven Richard. Dad continued to sow the seeds for the love of music in each of us. With every family get together, we gathered around the piano, grabbed a guitar and sang our worries away. As the seeds began to grow, the family also frew. Grandchildren soon followed with Jessica Lynn Case, Jennifer Janette Cody Heaton and her husband Greg, Lena Yvette Cody (aka, Tracy Grove heheart), Brandon Cody Lee Case Marissa Nicole Pace (aka, Fruitland heheart), nd Michael Pace (aka, Hardrock), Erik Watkins, Greg Watkins, Heather Watkins Murray and husband Adam. Generations continued to grow with the addition of great0grandchildre; Lauren Dee Heaton (aka, Sweetpea), Jocelyn Phelps, Gage Case, Benjamin Murray and Asher Murray. Throughout his life in all that he has done, Dick had many friends who he called "Cuz", so he soon bcame known ans "Cousin Dick". He gave so much of himself to others. He was always a man who truly loved life, had great humor and loved the Lord! He shared his love for music with all. He had a music store in his later years where all could come to pick and grin. He will truly be missed here on earth and will be welcomed in heaven above. As for family and friends, we are left here to "sow our seeds" on earth. Sow good seeds to bring a bounty of love, kind words and understanding. We miss you Papa!

My Uncle Dick, it was always a bright spot to see him. He always had a smile and encouraging words. I feel so blessed to have seen in the hospital several weeks ago. He told the nurse He was a little weak and that orange juice, graham crackers and peanut butter would fix him up. I felt honored to bring him those things from the nursing station. What a smile over something so small. I know my Dad is smiling with him in heaven. What a reunion the brothers must be having today. I will miss my Uncle Dick. My heart goes out to each of you in the loss of husband, dad, and grandfather. He loved his family. My prayers will be with each of you. May God wrap His loving arms around each of you.

Papa Case was an example of what a man should aspire too. He personified one of my favorite scriptures, Micah 6:8 which reads: He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God.
