Charles M. "Junk" Case

Passed Away: October 16, 2015

Charles M. “Junk” Case, 86, of East Flat Rock has entered his eternal reward after a long life filled with work and rich in memories of many good friends. Charles was the fourth of eight children. He was born on July 17, 1929 to Florence and General Grant Case in East Flat Rock, NC.
Charles served his country stateside as an Army cook during the Korean War. He was stationed in South Carolina and had many fond memories of time spent with his friends while in the service. Later, he ran his own construction business for many years in Henderson County, He built homes, churches, and other public buildings until 1973 when he opened the business that would become his passion for the rest of his life-Junk’s Junk Shop. His store became a meeting place where locals enjoyed gathering to not only view antique furniture, but also to catch up on local news and share stories.
Charles’ favorite hobbies include fishing, restoring furniture and cars, and spending time with his friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Allen, Dick, G.G., Jr., and Harold Case, as well as his sisters, Julia Pilcher and Louise Edney.
He is survived by two children and three grandchildren. Charles’ son, Robin and his wife Deana have two sons, Taylor and Derek Case. They reside in Galax, VA. Charles’ daughter, Georgia and her husband Steve Smies have one daughter, Elizabeth. They reside in Wisconsin. His brother, Jack Case lives in East Flat Rock; a number of nieces and nephews also survive Charles.
Friends and family are invited to attend Charles’ celebration of life at 3:30 pm Friday in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Thad Austin and Pastor Homer Maybin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:30 in the chapel. A private entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family is very grateful to the staff at Tore’s Home, especially Jennifer G., because of their quality of care and sincere affection for those in their care. The family would also like to thank the many friends who visited Charles at Tore’s. The staff at Forest Lawn Funeral Home has been of invaluable service to the family in their time of need.
Finally, the family would like to express praise to God who is the author of our life and the source of our future hope.
