Brenda Gail (Lane) Senn

September 6, 1943 - September 26, 2019

Brenda Gail (Lane) Senn, of Hendersonville, N.C., died Thursday, September 26, 2019, at the age of 76 after an extended illness. She was born on September 6, 1943, in Guy, Arkansas, the oldest daughter of Joe Alec and Glennis Faye (Rowlett) Lane.

Brenda attended Guy-Perkins schools and Harding University, Searcy, Arkansas, where she sang in the chorus, and used her singing abilities to entertain for many club functions and talent shows. After college, she pursued a career as a secretary in Conway, Arkansas. In 1963, she married Jerry C. Senn, a preacher of the gospel, and for the next 56 years they worked together among churches of Christ in both North and South Carolina.  Brenda was an integral part of their joint ministry efforts as Bible teacher, Children’s Bible Hour director, bus worker, and great supporter of her husband’s work. Her last ministry involved serving as church secretary for the Hendersonville church of Christ many years.

She once served as director of a Sweet Adelines Chorus, (Barbershop harmony) and sang competitively with “Peaches and Cream,” a vocal quartet. She also often sang for weddings and funerals over many years. In Hendersonville, she sang with community groups, both with Cantabile and the Carolina Concert Choir. An inspiration to all who knew her, Brenda’s voice and musical ability were God’s gift to her and to all who were exposed to her singing. Brenda excelled in everything she pursued, but, in nothing was she more a blessing than as a loving and godly wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves a wonderful legacy of love and will be greatly missed.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry C. Senn and their three children, Timothy Allen (Laurey Epperson) Senn, of Kingsland, Texas, Mary Elizabeth (Shannon) Baldwin, of Henderson County, N.C., John Paul (Miranda Williams) Senn, Russellville, Arkansas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sage Senn, Will Baldwin, Anna Baldwin, and Riley Senn. In addition, she is survived by four siblings, Eddie (Nancy) Lane, of Branson, MO, Sheila (Jerry) Roemisch, of Austin, Texas, Donna (Doug) Evans of Guy, Arkansas and Sherry (Danny) Rooney, of Guy, Arkansas.
