Blaine Vernon King, 85, lifelong resident of Henderson County, NC, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
Blaine was born on May 2, 1935. He was the son of the late Glover and Nettie Mae King. He was a 1954 graduate of Dana High School. Blaine is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Brunelle; his brothers, Boyd, Hollis, Garland, and Dwight King; and his sister, Maria Cantrell.
Blaine is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Osteen King; his children, Ricky King, Steve King (Gail), Shawn Corhn (Glenn), David King (Janet); his grandchildren, Shannon King, Allyson Blayne Warren (Casey), Taren Walker (Mike), Brandon King, Josh King, Daniel Corhn (Malorie), Jordan Brunelle (Jessie), Molly Hill (Hunter) and Seth King; great-grandchildren, Ryker Blaine and Mia Walker, Harper Blayne Warren, Archer Hill, Tucker and Zeke Brunelle, Layla Warren, Mackynley King, Kolt Hill and Emma Corhn; sisters, Beulah Dildine, Connie Case (Bud), Helen Stephens (Steve); sisters-in-law, Betty, Millie, and Wilma King, Sherby Merchant, Linda Bryson and Teresa Osteen; and many nieces and nephews.
Blaine worked and retired from Dupont after 32 years. He was also a long-time apple farmer and owner of car lot Blaine King Auto Sales.
He loved talking to people and never met a stranger. Most important to him was being a loving Papaw to all his babies. He was an active member of Kedron Lodge, a shrine member of the Oasis Shrine Temple, and a member of the order of the Eastern Star.
The funeral and graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Chapel on Tracy Grove Road, Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 2:00 pm. Kedron Lodge will provide Masonic Rights. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Blaine’s memory for Shriners Hospital of Greenville, SC (950 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605).
