Barbara Jean "Granny" Blythe

Barbara Jean “Granny” Blythe, 76, of Hendersonville, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 6, at Park Ridge Health. She was born in Buncombe County, a daughter of the late John and Myrtle Craig McDonald. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby McDonald.

She graduated from Owen High School in Black Mountain and lived most of her life in Henderson County. She retired from General Electric after 17 years with the company and was a member of Bear Creek Church of God in Marshall. She was an avid gardener who loved her family and held a special place in her heart for all of God’s creatures.
Mrs. Blythe is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Bill Blythe; two sons, Jim Goss of Florida and Sam Blythe and his wife Jennifer of Arden; two sisters, Carolyn McDonald and Phyllis King; four brothers, Bud, Bruce , Howard and David McDonald; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 11 am Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pastors Winston Lloyd, Donna Buckner and Anson Johnson will officiate. Following the service there will be a time of fellowship at Balfour Baptist Church on Asheville Highway.

Memorial contributions may be made to one’s local Humane Society.
