Annie Ruth Fuqua McCrary, 89, of Hendersonville, passed away, April 2, 2010 at Elizabeth House.
She was a native of McLellan, Florida, and resided in Henderson County for over 50 years. She was the daughter of the late D.J. and Mellie Fuqua and was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold K. McCrary, and nine brothers and sisters.
Ruth was a point guard of the Allentown High School State Championship Basketball team of Florida, an avid volleyball and tennis player, an enthusiastic square dancer, round dancer and ballroom dancer, a member of the VFW womenís Auxiliary, a passionate gardener, and a loving and devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her son, Tom McCrary and his wife Becky of Hendersonville; and her daughter, Jewel McCrary Hill and husband Tony of Sarasota, Florida; one sister, Madelyn Neff of Colorado; her grandchildren Cindy Ford and husband Doug, Eric Hill, Katie McCrary, Adam McCrary and wife Lauren, and two great grandchildren Maeve and Ewan Ford.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel. Memorials can be made to Hospice at Four Seasons, Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
