Shirley J. Patton, 75, of Hendersonville, passed from this world into the glory of her Lord Saturday, July 24, 2010, while at Elizabeth House.
She was born and lived 45 years in Rochester, NY. She moved to Hendersonville in 1980 with her husband Warren, and immediately fell in love with this area and its beauty.
At the age of 3 years, she was preceded in death by her mother and later by her younger sister.
Shirley truly loved the Lord and gave her heart to Him while still a young girl and faithfully served Him all her life. Her Legacy is the love by all who knew her. She accomplished many acts of love by knitting prayer shawls for many friends in her church and several other acts of love to many people throughout her life. Never having a negative attitude, she always looked at the bright side of life.
Shirley loved to the highest all members of her family and she will be missed so very much by them and all who knew her.
She was a faithful and serving member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hendersonville.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Warren J. Patton; three sons, Warren T. Patton of Canton, Jeffrey M. Patton and his wife Pamela of Grand Junction, CO, and Timothy A. Patton and his wife Sherri of Fletcher; a brother, Tom Fingland and his wife Shirley of Churchville, NY; two sisters, Betty Fitzmorris of Rochester, NY and Doris Bogner of Leicester, NY; eight grandchildren, Wesley of Tonawanda, NY, Jessica of N. Tonawanda, NY, Emily of Grand Island, NY, Jonathan and his wife Erica of Brevard, Ryan of Hendersonville, Melinda of Hendersonville, Catrina and her husband Chris of Fletcher, and Dustin of Brevard; two great-grandchildren, Parker of N. Tonawanda, NY and Dylan of Fletcher; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Eddie Clayton, Mrs. W.H. Gentry, and Rev.Sherman Waters will officiate. Jonathan Patton, Ryan Patton, Spurgeon Styles, Joe Quinn, Jack Norris and Lloyd Coren will serve as Pallbearers. Entombment will be private. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
