A Brief Encounter - November 2, 2011
Posted: November 2, 2011 | Last Revised: November 2, 2011

Bill and Marlene Birkhead entered our lives during some
wonderful years spent in Singapore half-way the sixties.
Some of the valuable memories would have to include our learning ballroom dancing together, tennis at the "Dutch Club",bowling and other activities such as spare-rib barbeque lunch times around the pool at the "American Club",cramming both families into a small Triumph herald for a trip to the beach in Malaya (despite Bill's long
legs and protestations),lots of talks about Ayn Rand --
after all, it was the sixties --- and so many good times just enjoying the raising together of two young families.
Bill was of course, extemely successful in his working life and it was so obvious that he would become a high
achiever: however, it was as an intelligent, kind,
insightful caring man that made him one of a kind. One
always treasured the time spent in his company and his
wonderful persona will be with us forever.
As we say in the Aussie vernacular; "well done sunshine", you ended up on top of the heap!
For the moment, and for awhile, an old friend.
Rex
