Ruth Heinze, 94, of Hendersonville passed away peacefully at home with her husband, Charles, at her side.
A resident of Hendersonville for 22 years, Ruth was born in Lithuania and brought to Berlin, Germany as a child by her parents. Growing up, she was always interested in sewing and was considered by many to be an expert dress and garment maker. She was also well-versed in most forms of needle craft, designing and making beautiful afghans, cushions and other decorative items. She met and married her husband while he was stationed in the Berlin Command with the U.S. Army. She came to the U.S. with Charles in 1954 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1962. Charles, being a career military man, would require her to adjust to separation due to his overseas deployments. She adjusted by doing volunteer work, enabling her to take the separations in stride.
Ruth was a caring wife, meticulous housekeeper and was known by friends and neighbors for her delicious German cheesecake. She passed away the victim of Alzheimer’s on May 15, 2017. The Pardee Home Health nurse and helper, Ann Freeman assisted her with complications caused by the later stages of this disease. We cannot praise these two individuals enough for their help.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles; a brother in Berlin, Germany; a sister-in-law in PA; nieces and nephews in PA and Germany.
In honor of Ruth’s wishes, a private burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
