Leona Robinson Graham departed this life on the morning of April 11th, 2018. Leona was born on a farm in Foster, Oklahoma on May 1st, 1936, and grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. Throughout the years she cared for many people, including her siblings and then later her children. She always took better care of everybody else than she did herself and taught all of us to take care of those who were less fortunate. Throughout her life she held a variety of jobs – she was a CNA, a school bus driver, an Avon sales lady, an Olan Mills representative, a Census worker, a worker in a butcher shop, a toy manufacturer, and she worked at the restaurant in the bowling alley (where she met John). With all the variety of professions throughout her life, her number one job was to always take care of everyone else. Leona loved to travel, especially to the desert southwest and pacific northwest. She loved living in the mountains of North Carolina. She was the best mom in the world and valued time with her tight-knit family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and Colin, her siblings Loretta and Granville, her husband John D. Graham, and her daughter Vickie. She is survived by her siblings: Betty, Orvel (Judy), Erma (Frank), Linda (Gene), Sharron (Mark), Kathy, & Joe (Petti) and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her children, Tony Graham (Peggy), Bobby Graham (DeAnna), & Kim Harwell (Lance); and her grandchildren Cory Graham, Kelli Harwell, Stacey Harwell-Dye (Jonathan), and Heather Burgess (Mark); and great grandchildren Charley and Addi.
Private family services will be held later this week.
